About
The house dates back over 200 years; Pondicherry can be found on an old map in All Saints parish church dated 1816. However, although the original house is very traditional, the name Pondicherry is not a Northumbrian name. It originates from South East India, an area fought over by the French, Dutch and British colonialists; it remained a French colonial possession until 1962. Occupied by the English in 1778 & 1793, the story goes that someone in a military role returned to England around that time and re-named their farm after the region they served in.
Our history is not so ancient, we’ve lived at Pondicherry for nearly 20 years and raised 4 children in the very pleasant & spacious surroundings. All but one of our children have now left and we have used the space convert into a comfortable apartment with some old period charm in a very special location.
We are very pleased to share this space with visitors, and hope our guests enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the location, as we have done.

Our little one enjoyed playing… read more with the abundant toys and we were able to keep safe ‘zones’ for him with the sturdy doors. The kitchen and bathroom were just right and spotlessly clean. We were extremely comfy in the king sized bed and the main rooms/space was lovely.
